Catenary Heating Systems

Infrastructure

A catenary traction system utilizes a catenary wire, also known as the contact wire, to provide high power electricity that the electric train can transfer to it’s electric engines through a pantograph. The pantograph sits on the roof of each railcar – there can be multiple pantographs per car depending on the manufacturer.

This system allows the train to transfer electricity from the powered contact wire to the electric car engines.
